RV Customer Said His A/C Blew Up by Turning Power on Too Fast

Question: A customer in our RV Park stated that his A/C unit blew up after my wife turned his power off a couple times during a 5 minute period. She and I was checking for a elecrtrical problem with our power supply to yard lights. The temperature here in northeast Texas has been in low 100's for a month. This happened about 3 weeks ago ,so he just replaced it. He said it was only years old. Wierd thing too was he said he lost his dvd player about same time. When i go past his unit it seems the unit is on all the time as is everyone's in the park. I went home and checked our personal RV to see if it too would fail. Is there not protection built into unit to protect it from power loss-start up loaded situation. There was a electrical storm {hail}that knocked the power off at the park for a couple hours. That storm was about same time his supposed promblem arose. Thanks Paul

Robbie: You say there was an electrical storm at the time this all happened. I would stop right there and assume the problem was an act of god. You said this all happened during the storm and the voltage went off then on in a few hours. It is hard to say for sure but maybe his unit was damaged directly from the electrical storm.

Note: The wife turning the AC on and off repeatedly is very hard on the AC if there was no time delay to the compressor (older unit). And lastly, there is no protection built into an RV that protects against a voltage spike, but it can be purchased and added to the 110V cable when plugged into the park supply.
