How do you put new rubber roof on the slide out ?

by Barbara
(Buxton NC)

Question: We are installing a new rubber roof on a jayco 5th wheel, but we are not sure how to get the new roof on the 3 slideout.

Robbie: OK, its not fun but can be done, you'll need to bring in the slide about 12 inches and work the job on the inside part blind, first remove the rubber on the outside of the slide and then the inside. Use a mirror if need to see the screw pattern inside. It will take time but be patient and you'll get it done.

Warning: Do not take the easy way out and try laying the new rubber over the old..It won't stick.

Good Luck,
Robbie

Hi, I'm Robbie. Welcome to Money-Saving-RV-Repair.com!

Like the name implies, this site is all about helping you save money while keeping your RV in tip-top shape--and that is all about you having the knowledge to do so.

I've been a technician in the RV industry for 30 years, operating out of San Diego, California. And let me tell you, I love my job.

But I also love empowering RVers with the knowledge they need to make the right decision on repairs, or to make the fix themselves--and that, my friend, is the reason for this website. I hope you enjoy.
